well i'm heading out of madison today for chicago.
from there i'll be heading to georgia for g8 stuff. everyone wish me luck. the governor of georgia has already declared a state of emergency in the area which basically gets rid of all rights so i have no idea what to expect. honestly i think it's all blown out of proportion because it really doesn't seem like that many folks are going to even show up. oh well.
check ya lata!

[26 May 2004|12:06pm] |
recap: went to the beach at tybee island georgia. we stayed at one of the group's friends beach house. actually we more stayed on the porch because we couldn't get in. eventually the neighbors called the cops because they thought we were squatting. it was entertaining. we moved on to a state park beach in south carolina which is apparently the shell capital of the east coast. that was much fun. then we got a ride to baltimore and tried to hop a train. we totally got on the wrong one and just went from one train yard to another at the port of baltimore. that was bad. after that we hung out in b-more for another day and a half or so trying to hitch a ride west to head to kate's house. this was damn near impossible because we were on a north/south road. eventually a trucker took us all the way to toledo ohio and kate's fam volunteered to pick us up. it's been fun and it's sucked but you know... that's life.
p.s. know i can die happy because i got to make out on a moving freight train.

Message from RNC not welcome folks:
Dear friends,
We are writing to ask for your help. As of today, if you search on google.com for the term, "Republican National Convention", we are ranked second. We would like to replace the official GOP website as the number #1 rank. Why is this important? Well, it's just one more way we can outsmart them and confuse the delegates, bring people to our site and get more attention for the resistance against the RNC. If you have a site, blog or other web space, this is how you do this:
If you haven?t already linked to us, use this code for your page: < a href="http://www.rncnotwelcome.org" target="_blank">Republican NationalConvention< /a> and/or < a href="http://www.rncnotwelcome.org" target="_blank">Republican Convention< /a> and/or < a href="http://www.rncnotwelcome.org" target="_blank">Republican Protests< /a> (take out spaces before the "a"'s)
Be a friend and do all three! If you would like a reciprocal link on our page, feel free to email us. Chance are, you may already be listed on our site. See http://www.rncnotwelcome.org/directory.html to see.

alrighty, so.. what's been going on with me.
well it's official i'm dropping out of school. surprisingly my parents are alright with that. the current plan is for this summer to travel, sadly because of certain events we'll only be able to do east coast and midwest this year. hen we'll e back in asheville and open up the spears and bears co-op, aka our house. it'll be great. luckily with low housing costs in asheville i'll only need a part time job to cover expenses and will have tons of time to work on cop-watch, fnb and hopefully starting an infoshop or distro. i think we have a really good group for he house next year and i'm excited for people to come visit.
seriously, me dropping out should not come as a surprise to anyone that knows me. i've always self taught and found that much more rewarding than school. my passions right now definately do not mesh with campus life either. i, by no means, am saying it is a bad thing for every one, it's just not for me. i guess cassie was right last year when she said tat i'd go for one year realize that my lifestyle teaches me much more than school and drop out in favor of real life.
i am glad i gave it a go. i needed to find out for myself. but it does feel good to know i won't have the restraints that i do now very soon. so yes, i'll take an order of dropping out with a side of one step towards liberation.

heh, not since miami have i felt so afronted by floridians! i posted the call to action onto the crimethinc community and rightfully so it generated some debate. the debaters have taken two forms one who actually takes time to develope an arguement in a clear way, and another that thinks some how people will be won over through name calling and rampant sexism. the funny things about the second (squeeisnoone) is he is a "sharp" (skinhead against racial prejudice) who takes no time to understand his own oppressive attitudes towards women. i find it horribly entertaining.

Call to Action June 5th, 2004 Insurrection Night
On June 18, 1999 the G8 was accompanied by militant action in every country that was represented at the meetings. Major financial institutions were shut down, buildings were occupied and symbols of corporate oppression were ruined. For the first time since the fall of the Soviet Union, capital had something to fear- even in the richest countries in the world. This was a resistance unlike that which had ever been seen before. The anti-capitalist warriors followed no one, they took no orders except those that came from their heart. They showed that their was resistance everywhere to all things that the G8 represents. Since then the resistance has only been growing as the policies of this institution continue to wreck our planet. We have dismantled their fences, we’ve broken their windows, we’ve burned their banks. Acting like cornered animals they have retaliated with arrests, batons, pepper spray, tear gas, rubber bullets and gunning down our comrade Carlo Giuliani at the G8 summit in 2001. This has not frightened us away. We know that we must confront them wherever they are. That includes our own neighborhoods.
Imagine Saturday June 5th thousands of people taking to the streets nation-wide in small groups of trusted friends. Anonymous people spontaneously acting out their passion for a better world. Imagine a flying brick, a burning dumpster, a street torn apart. Imagine Sunday June 6th the capitalists wake up to find their institutions ablaze. Imagine the SUV drivers staying home because all the roads are blocked by barricades. Imagine the yuppies reading their Sunday morning paper to find that there was a full scale revolt the night before without a shot ever being fired. Imagine our movement once again proving that we are everywhere.
Imagine June 5th as Insurrection Night.
This is our chance to use new ways of protest. We will take them by surprise. Their massive numbers in Georgia will be their undoing. They can guard the summit but they can’t guard every Bank, every Wal-Mart, every Starbucks. They can’t make sure every road stays clear. We will work under the cover of darkness and we won’t get caught. This night is for all those that oppose the policies of the G8 and hope for a better world. From Anarchists to Raging Grannies, Elf and Alf to Anti-War activists, Labor unions to Anti-Authoritarians, on June 5th we all have a job to do. This world is ours and it is time for those in power to be forced to acknowledge it. They can spend 50 million dollars in Georgia to build a police state and protect people talking about policy, but we will not be distracted.
We will attack those policies in the real world.
In Georgia we can stand and present our radical perspective. We can prove their police state will not intimidate us, but neither will it lure us into their trap of brutal beatings and plastic cuffs. We can take this opportunity to show the strength of our movement and prove that our privilege in America has not placated us.

| anybody but bush? |
[14 Apr 2004|09:40am] |
you know, watching the press conference last night got me to thinking about how funny electoral politics are.
you know what? bush sucks. i think every one that knows me knows that i feel that way. but i have been quiet to my less radical friends about my feelings of getting bush out of office. yes, i can agree that it needs to be done. but not by putting kerry (or even kucinich) in. it needs to be done by ridding our selves of the falacy of government. bush has fucked over the world but guess what! every president in recent memory has made it worse and worse. the only difference between bush and kerry is that kerry will smile while punching you and bush just looks mad while doing the same thing. kerry will not stop empire because our government is set up to be an empirial power. kerry will not stop ruining the environment because under capitalism money will always be worth more than trees and air. kerry will not rid us off the patriot act because those in power will never give it up willingly. kerry is a politician, this means he likes having authority- just like bush.
the problems is that if kerry is elected people will be placated. they won't care that our military will be just as huge. they won't care that mountain top removal mining is still going on. they won't care that capitalist globalization is continueing. they have been told that democrats are better that republicans. they aren't. the problem is the fact that people are in power- not the people in power.
bush needs to be out of the white house, and the white house needs to be turned into a squat for people that need it. you can go to your ballot box, but i'll be out making changes.

|
| my fav part of the press conference |
[14 Apr 2004|09:36am] |
reporter: why are you and the vice president insisting on appearing before the 911 panel together rather than seperately as they requested?
bush: because it's a good oppurtunity to answer questions. they're looking forward to asking us questions and we're looking forward to answering them.
if he couldn't answer a reporter's question about questioning i have to question his question answer.
heh.

| welcome to the warren-wilson police state |
[26 Mar 2004|10:13am] |
alright, so normally i don't get involved with campus politics. usually they are a bunch of kids whinning so i steer clear, but last night was different.
wilson has and has always had these parties called bubbas and brownshoes. the students get together on one of our many pastuers (this is a farm school turned hippy after all) has a fire and drink alot. the school has always supported them financially or atleast turned a blind eye. this year these parties have been cracked down upon. now don't get me wrong, i will be one of the first to admit that there are problems with it. over-drinking, sexual assualt things of that nature. but these are problems on this campus even when there is not a bubba that night. the bubbas are not the cause of these problems and even if the bubbas never existed these problems still would. last night there was a brownshoe. campus security (by order of the administration, i'm sure) decided to call the buncombe county sheriff's department. by the time it was over people had been maced, beaten, and 38 wilson students had been arrested. what were they arrested for? the reason for arrest was trespassing. that's right. these wilson students who damn nearly 20,000 dollars a year for this campus were trespassing by being on it. this is unacceptable. i don't go to the bubbas anymore, i'm just not interested and last night me and mingus were hanging out. i'm not angry because i can't have my good time. i'm mad because a school that claims to be liberal and accepting gave the green light for people to come on to our campus and beat, spray and arrest people. his should not happen in anyone's home and i'll be damned if i'll let it happen to mine. i decided months ago not to come back to wilson, it's just not for me, but there are wonderful people here and they don't deserve this. while i'm here i will help save what little freedom we have.

|
| things i have realized |
[04 Dec 2003|09:35am] |
i am a jerk (realized through conversations with a certain someone and through action in the past two nights)
texans never get used to snow (realized through looking ou the window when i woke up this morning)
some people can be liked and hated simultaniuosly (realized through a growing friendship with jack)
cassie was right when she said i probably would not allow myself to make it through school (realized by a growing disdain for sitting in this self-indulgent setting)
i envy people who are doing what i will not allow myself to do (realized by the fact that 50% of the group i know from miami are leaving school to major in revolution)
i don't have people here i can talk to (realized when the one person who i thought was a great friend here tells me she has a crush on me)
celibacy may be the best option (realized through the tried and failed avoidance of drama)
and last but not least that the world is a beautiful place, it looks beautiful, it works beautifully, and it allows a beautiful mental state, but then people come along and fuck it all up.
